The food wasn't particularly mind-blowing, but the service was good. I tried the Cowboy Beef Stew and washed it down with a Colorado Native. My meal needed a bit more flavor, I had to add more salt and pepper to my stew in order to enjoy it.

When a split pea soup is as good as my mother's, I am sold. The soup was on the same level as the service: pretty near perfect. Though the space is tiny, the soup packs a big punch. Robust and hearty flavors like chicken sausage and rice, beef stew, and of course - split pea soup with ham are only the beginning of a flavorful menu of soup and sandwiches. The soup was thick with great flavor and the perfect amount of ham. With a decent serving of potato chips on the side, I wasn't even compelled to mindlessly eat the salty, fried lays chips, because the split pea soup had my attention the whole meal. So perfect for a snowy day in Snowmass. To accompany our sandwich, we settled on the brie, apple, and turkey sandwich. Per our waitress's honest and happily accepted recommendations, the brie and turkey was as delicious as promised. Plus, you have to appreciate a server that prompts you to go for the sandwich that you ordinarily wouldn't have on any given day - you gotta treat yourself every once and a while.

I was so glad to have walked by this place! The soups and stews are delicious here I'm actually contemplating if I should give it another try before I leave the area. I had the special stew for the day which was a jalapeño and pork stew over mashed potatoes. It was DELICIOUS. sure the prices where a little up there but it was pretty fresh which I think made it totally worth it :)

The perfect dinner to compliment a day of skiing.

For being smack in the middle of Snowmass Village at the outdoor Mall, we were extremely pleased with the affordable prices. As it was a late lunch in summer, they were seating everyone outside at the glass tables with umbrellas. We were greeted immediately as soon as we stepped past the gated threshold. My Old Fashioned Beef Stew and the hubby's Ham & Brie Panini with a cup of Chicken & Sausage stew were hearty and full of comfort. Both our stews arrived piping hot, and I can totally see the appeal of this place during ski season. My only complaint was that I wished my bowl was just a little bigger, and that my floppy slice of multigrain bread was a little more robust (don't get me wrong, I appreciated its freshness). The butter is the generic kind that comes in its own little foil. Both my bread and butter arrived on a paper plate, and my bowl had no plate underneath. I take it that the entrees are the focus here, so don't expect little touches of thoughtful presentation. The bathroom is up a flight of narrow, curving stairs. Overall the interior, both the lower and the upper, is tight and a bit dated. But the servers were nice and efficient, and the gentleman in particular made us feel welcome. Atmosphere is casual. A good find!

This place is just a short walk from the Snowmass mountain slope and has a cozy warm interior. They typically have both soup and stew specials. We had the cowboy beef stew and the sesame chicken stew. Both were extremely warming on a cold winter day. In fact, the cowboy beef stew was so exceptional that I ended up ordering a second one. They also have a variety of sandwiches which we did not try so I can't comment on their quality. All the entrees cost around $10 for a decent sized portion. The staff were all very helpful and courteous. I would definitely come back again if I came to Snowmass in the future.

Great spot! Had the avocado veggie and added grilled chicken - delicious!! Quick and friendly service. The patio is awesome - nice size tables and shaded. Prices are reasonable too! Would highly recommend for a relaxing lunch in snowmass.

I had the spicy chicken stew special. It was tasty and enjoyable. Restaurant has a nice ambiance, great service. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Still the best spot on the mountain. Simple, comfort food. 2-3 daily stews and another 2-3 daily soups combine with a regular menu of salads & sandwiches and excellent homemade bread to provide a solid lunch or dinner for hungry skiers (in winter) or bikers (in summer).

After a long day on the slopes, we were really in the mood for some hot soup and carbs, and this was the place for it. The inside is so quaint and romantic, with an upstairs seating area as well. The staff was so accommodating. We wanted to move tables and they were more than happy to help us. I ordered the chicken noodle, and it was the heartiest and best tasting I've had to date...almost as good as grandma's. My boyfriend had a chili, I forget which kind, and he loved it. He isn't a big fan of soup, but he had two plates of that one. I recommend this place for good prices and a relaxing, easy meal after the slopes.

Delicious food. Diverse menu - a lot more than just stew, but I had the beef Burgundy stew, and it was great. My wife had a shrimp and arugula salad, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Good selection of beers, too. The owner, Fletcher, waited on us himself, and the service was perfect. Pricing is reasonable, especially for Snowmass.

Delicious no frills place to eat. The traditional beef stew is fantastic. Well worth the visit.

Went to this place twice (not many places to grab lunch around the area). Overall the experience and service have been exceptionally bad. Food is so and so as well. I would not recommend this place at all. Go to Starbucks and get a sandwich instead it will be better! Ps: Got a terrible food poisoning after visiting this place. Spending all night on the toilet is not my idea of fun. Stay away from this dump!

  • Brandon P.

Another typically overpriced dump leeching off a resort. As usual, the food was mediocre, service awful and food way overpriced. Took almost an hour to get a pastrami sandwich with a cup of beef stew and a bowl of beef stew. This place is named "The Stew Pot" and they specialize in stew - how on earth could it take that long? They were not busy because we purposely planned lunch to beat the lunch crowd. Worst of all, my girlfriend spent half the night getting sick from food poising which obviously came from the pastrami sandwich since that was the only thing she ate that day that I did not eat. I even ate a little bit of her stew because the "bowl" of stew I ordered was so small. Avoid this place at all costs!

Loved this place, wish I had tried earlier on the trip as would have gone there more. Super friendly and attentive service, I had one of the specials, the habanero pork stew and it was perfect seasoning and just right amount of heat, not overly spicy. My wife had the traditional beef stew and also enjoyed. Prices are very reasonable and a total relief from many of the other places with lackluster service and high prices in Snowmass Mall/Village.

This is the place that i look forward to visiting when I am booking my trip to Snowmass. Fresh soups and stews. Simple, comfort food goodness. They've Been here since 1972 so they must be doing something right. Will visit here again and again. You cannot go wrong with this little oasis in the Snowmass Village Mall.

My first time at the Stew Pot. After a day of skiing and cold, a nice bowl of soup was in order. Had the Belgium Beef stew. It was okay but not wow. The flavor does not have enough depth. I will return when I crave soup at Snowmass, but not something I would plan ahead or make an effort.

The stew pot warmed our bellies and our hearts! I was starting to lose hope for the local Snowmass restaurants, when the Stew Pot completely restored my faith. The inside is cozy, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive (We had 1 waiter on duty for every 2 tables when we went) The food is DELICIOUS, freshly prepared, generously portioned and incredibly reasonably priced, particularly by ski resort standards. The total for 4 hungry adults including desert, drinks, and tip was under $60, which is approximately the price of a diet coke in Aspen. We tried a mix of sandwiches, stews, soups, and salads and everything was good. We particularly enjoyed the Chili and the Apple Pie. The menu has tons of great options and they have different specials daily to give us the excuse we were looking for to come back again tomorrow. The Stew Pot offers the perfect food and hospitality to warm up and re-energize from a big day on the slopes!

I was on my own, roaming around in Snowmass Village at lunchtime, starving & thought I would give it a try. It worked out really well. I had the vegetable beef soup it was delicious. the service was very quick and friendly and the prices are reasonable.

Food very good. Wait staff very nice. Manager/Senior waiter/Guy with Rockies shirt on was bizarrely rude and combative. He never cracked a smile, was impatient with our order and denied getting the to go order that we had placed. Three times. We were there as volunteers for the Disabled Veterans Sports Clinic, the last financial boost of their season, and this guy shot himself in the foot.

We ate here tonight, wanted something warm and cozy with a casual outdoor patio. I ordered the chicken gumbo...it was delicious, but would have been much better if it was actually hot. It was lukewarm, as best. The presentation of it was nothing special...just a bowl, no plate underneath, no bread or crackers. Soup running down the side. But here's the really bad part: Our waiter was extremely detached, never came by our table to ask how everything was. I would have ordered another glass of wine, but he never came by to ask or even refill our water glasses. He also got both of my sons's orders wrong. I was so perplexed as to his behavior, it was definitely reflected in his tip. We always tip very generously for nice service, but he was unbelievably bad, didn't deserve much at all. It's such a shame because I really enjoyed this cute restaurant, he just ruined our experience. I hope the restaurant manager reads this. I did not even catch his name, but he was in a blue plaid shirt tonight. He could possibly make you lose business. There was actually another waitress (very nice), who had her own tables, that came by as we were ready to leave and asked how everything was...I told her about our experience. She was more attentive than our own waiter. Disappointing. If he doesn't like his job, I'm sure there are many local college kids that would jump at the chance for a summer job here!

Never disappointed! Nothing like hot homemade soup or stew on a cold day. So many choices, excellent variety, and able to satisfy this GF, dairy free eater.

My boss comes to Snowmass every year for the ACC conference I have told him to never go back to the Stew Pot again. He used his business credit card & did not bring back his itemized receipts. I have called 3 other restaurants who have been extremely helpful & kind. The manager at the Stew Pot was absolutely HORRIBLE and rude. He told me "can I just say I can't find this receipt and lets be done here" and I said jokingly "yes sure". He then hung up the phone. So I called back and he said "look I wasn't kidding. I am busy and I am not going to take the time out of my busy day to look for some irresponsible doctors receipt so you can just tell them uncooperative restaurant". I actually wasn't requesting that he did it right then. I just simply wanted him to take my info & send it to me when he had time. I have never been talked to so unprofessionally!

Standard soups, salads and panini. Nothing special but good, friendly service, decent food at reasonable prices. Definitely not a place im going to seek out but will go back when other places are packed.

Had dinner here after wandering about the Snowmass Mall looking for something affordable and having something on the menu that was appealing AND that we hadn't tried yet. So it was between this, and the other three bar/grill places on the Mall... Service was just okay. We were seated, quickly, upstairs. One server was friendly, the other gruff. Water was refilled quickly. We split a chili cheese dog with a side salad and a bowl of French onion soup. Nothing was piping hot, flavor was ok, but it did fill us up at less than $20 total.

Great spot for lunch in the Snowmass Mall. We got the chicken salad sandwich with a cup of the French onion vegetable soup and the house salad with a cup of the Brunswick stew. The sandwich was delicious, included grapes and served on a nice multigrain bread. The French onion vegetable soup had melted cheese and croutons. The house salad was very large and filling and the Brunswick stew was creamy but not overwhelming. I would definitely recommend coming here if you want to warm up while you fill up.

My first meal in Aspen! Though, for being in Aspen, I had much higher expectations. We ate here twice during our stay, and on our second stop in, I ordered the chili. I imagine the soups and stews are what they're known for, since I didn't care for the chicken sandwich I had. Inside it's hot and nothing special aesthetic-wise. Hopefully you can get a seat on the outdoor patio!! Service was very nice though!

I ordered the nearly $10 bowl of stew. It was lukewarm at best and the bowl was quite small. It had a half of a small potato placed on top. The meat was chewy and overall not a tasty dish. The service was friendly.

I love the Stew Pot. It is definitely cozy and casual. The food is great, reasonably priced and it is completely unpretentious. The last two attributes are a tough call in the area. The staff are extremely chill and I have never had a bad meal there. Enjoy!

FRIENDLY!!! Great food and awesome service. Want great options, get the specials... You will not be disappointed. I got the beef stew (different from whats on menu), she got white chicken stew, or something like that, from the specials. Our waitress was so sweet and knowledgeable, couldn't say no to anything. DO NOT GO TO SNOWMASS WITHOUT STOPPING HERE. The best!!! Chris

This place is definitely one to come back to. Soups were delicious, and I absolutely recommend the chicken chipotle wrap. It's pretty large, and extremely tasty. I got a cup of the chicken and sausage stew and it came out quite hot. The waiter is awesome. Great personality and very helpful/friendly. Great place, overall.

The best lunch spot in the snowmass mall. Delish selection of soups and stews made in house daily. Always friendly service, hot food and a quick lunch spot. This is a total locals spot that not many tourists venture into. Locally owned and operated. I love the StewPot. Great for kids and family too!

Best place in Snowmass for a low price, good and tasty meal at a sit down restaurant. The stews are obviously the main draw, but they have good sandwiches, salads, etc. Special-of-the-day soups and stews are outstanding. Prices are in the $10 to $15 range.

15 tables packs em in. Hustling waitstaff about 1 per 4 tables. 10 sandwiches, 8 soups/stews/chilis About a dozen micro brews, plus wine. Small tea house feel. With skiers in boots instead of grannies and housewives. Chicken gumbo - said it was traditional. Bread is very good and crackers. Bowl is small. Like a small bowl at home, perhaps 1.5 cups. Quality - Campbell's Soup gumbo. Celery, okra!, bell pepper!!, onion!!!, tomatoes?, carrots???? Cue Dierks Bentley..."what was I thaaankinnn??" One-way circular stairs make for an adventure. Looking for a less expensive lunch? Try it. Looking for a good lunch? Take it or leave it. Looking for a place that will make u miss Snowmass? Forget it.

Small place. Just a few tables inside. As the name implies, they specialize in stew but have lots of other options. Sometimes, you just need a nice hot bowl of soup ! I had the gumbo and it was good but needed a little more heat. My wife's beef stew was as good as it gets.

Really enjoyed the Pork and Green Pepper Stew... very tender pork, veggies with just the right amount of firmness; thought the scoop of mashed potatoes in the middle of the bowl was great and added some tasty carbs. Service was okay... my iced tea was never refilled and it took a lot of coordination to get the check. Wasn't too hip to the modest offering of one slice of bread and be prepared for the restaurant to be chilly; every time a customer opened the door, the whole restaurant would get a serious blast of cold air. My stew cooled off fairly quickly, not the restaurant's fault, but it would be good if they could do something about the draftiness.

After a morning skiing on a very cold and windy mountain I was craving a big bowl of scorching hot soup for lunch. The Stew Pot delivered with the best chicken stew I've ever had (okay I'm not sure I've ever had Chicken Stew before but I hope there will be more in my future.) I left full, warm and ready for more skiing- which is the point when you are in Snowmass right?

Kind of a funny place to stop for lunch on an 80 degree June day in Snowmass, but my husband wanted salad (probably a good call since we had a long afternoon of chili and beer binging ahead of us) and salad he found. Of course, the salad he ordered was hardly light since it was a Cobb. It came piled high with eggs, sliced avocado, meats, bacon, greens and veggies in a big bowl for under $10. It also came with a yummy looking slice of multigrain bread and butter. I had a plain, and I mean perfectly plain perfect thinly sliced roasted turkey sandwich on soft but hearty wheat bread with lettuce, tomato, sprouts and herb mayo. I detest mayo but the herbed up version was delicious. Nothing fancy or foofoo about this sandwich at all and it was exactly what I wanted. The quality of the ingredients shined. My side salad almost filled my entire dinner plate and had mixed greens, fresh sliced tomatoes, cucumbers and carrot swirls with a delicious balsamic dressing. My lunch was $9. Just another treat in this ski village - a decently priced meal that tasted great and was not your standard cheapy but $$$ ski fare of dry bread, processed lunchmeat, wilted veggies and subpar condiments served pre-packaged in an assembly line.

They stayed open late for us (all 9 of us), and were very nice about it. I had the veggie chili, which was amazing! I pretty much inhaled it. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Still a great spot for lunch or dinner: the food is the star of the show. Service is usually swift but separate checks are often too much trouble for the waiters. This isnot a fancy place, but is possibly the best value in Snowmass.

Delicious soup, great service, and very reasonably priced! This little place is wonderful. I loved the chicken brunswick stew which was loaded with vegetables - boyfriend had the beef stew which was also tasty (and loaded with mushrooms)! A perfect meal for the slopes!

Soups are great, especially creamy artichoke. The service was friendly and prompt. Actually, probably the best service I've had in snowmass, even when spending $400 on dinner for two. The prices are just a tad high for soup. $5 for a cup and around $9 for a bowl seems a bit much.

This is the place for flavorful stews that fill the belly. The habanero pork was awesome with just the right amount of spice. The beer beef potroast was equally delicious. The service was excellent and it won't break the bank. Just the right meal after a day of skiing.

My wife and I stopped at the Stew Pot for dinner during the Thanksgiving weekend. The place was empty (the whole town looked deserted), but the food was great, affordable and fresh. Plus the owners are very nice, as is the Argentinian working there. Overall, a great place for everyone looking to grab a quick bite or a drink after a long day of skiing.

Went here for dinner one night. Soups were ok. They give samples which is kind of cool, both of the samples were cold my gf liked one of them and asked for that one but specified she wanted it warm. They served it cold anyway. Soup is pretty good, but try going there earlier when they're still keeping them warm :)

    (3)

I ordered the nearly $10 bowl of stew. It was lukewarm at best and the bowl was quite small. It had a half of a small potato placed on top. The meat was chewy and overall not a tasty dish. The service was friendly.

I love the Stew Pot. It is definitely cozy and casual. The food is great, reasonably priced and it is completely unpretentious. The last two attributes are a tough call in the area. The staff are extremely chill and I have never had a bad meal there. Enjoy!

  • G J.

  • Suzee Q.

The best lunch spot in the snowmass mall. Delish selection of soups and stews made in house daily. Always friendly service, hot food and a quick lunch spot.

Fantastic spot for dinner. We called ahead and put our name in for our party of 6. When we arrived we only had to wait a few minutes and the host was very friendly. The menu was fantastic and the service was speedy. I would highly recommend it. Great place to warm up on a cold day.

The soups here are delicious, especially the creamy artichoke.

Amazing soups, salads, sandwiches, stews and probably everything else. Least expensive place we ate at the whole trip.

They stayed open late for us (all 9 of us), and were very nice about it. I had the veggie chili, which was amazing! I pretty much inhaled it. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Delicious no frills place to eat. The traditional beef stew is fantastic. Well worth the visit.

Great, casual and cozy spot. The daily soup and stew specials are always great options! Highly recommend it.

The best!!! Chris

Fast & Friendly service. The Mediterranean Lamb Stew and Chicken Stew ( can't remember the name but it had a ton of veggies in a wine sauce) were both delicious, hearty, and filling. It was a quick and reasonably priced lunch and kept us full for the rest of the afternoon.

Stopped in for dinner and it was great. Very casual and wonderful food. Staff was great, perfect mix of welcoming conversation without being overbearing and of course the food was really good. Sandwiches, stews, soups and salads, it was summer when we visited but I can see how this place would be amazing in the winter.

Liked it a lot! We had Green Chile Chicken Chili, Durango Beef Stew, Habanero Stew. All Yummy! Salad at the table next to us looked great. Service was quick and good. Good selection of beer, some wine, and specialty drinks. I'd definitely go back to try other things.

Having checked into our Snowmass Village hotel just before evening, we took the short walk to the Snowmass Village Mall to find a place for dinner. The Stew Pot immediately caught our eye and we were seated immediately. The service was friendly and we were impressed with how quickly our meals arrived. Naturally, we ordered the stew. We really enjoyed the meal and would definitely go back again the next time we are in the area.

This place was great! My family of 4 went there after not being able to get into another restaurant. My 4 yr old loved the beef stew; the veggie chili was fantastic, and the apple pie a la mode may have been the best I've ever had (?!) I would definitely go back!

Best place to go for gluten-free grub in the area. The chili's delish. A variety of stews each day. If you don't have to do gluten-free, they have great sandwiches, too. Servers are friendly. Cozy place to dine with friends or alone.

Went here for dinner one night. Soups were ok. They give samples which is kind of cool, both of the samples were cold my gf liked one of them and asked for that one but specified she wanted it warm. They served it cold anyway. Soup is pretty good, but try going there earlier when they're still keeping them warm :)

Just steps from the slopes, this small hole in the wall mall restaurant is great. All of the soups and hearty stews here are consistantly really good. Menu changes daily. My favorite place on mountain for lunch or cheap dinner
